I created this ornament plaster mold system after learning to make my own over the last couple years. One of the challenges with making ornaments is firing them with glaze and preventing tipping in the kiln. I have solved this issue by including firing stands as part of the system. 
 
I cast my ornaments using english grolleg porcelain, which shrinks approximately 15%. The final ornament measures 3.4" x 3.4" and 3/4" at the stem. I cast them for 8 minutes for the best wall thickness to carve and they measure approximately 6 oz. at the finish.
 
 The mold is made from Pottery Plaster #1.
 
Jennifer casts all molds once to ensure quality of the casting. The life of a mold can vary depending on how you care for it. It's recommended to sponge clean it after casting and use a fan and open air shelves when drying in between uses. This mold will cast well for an average of 30 castings. Jennifer casts an average of three mugs a day in one mold. This product is not suitable for a production potter since efficiencies come from having multiples of a mold. This mold is great for someone who is learning about slip casting and is interested in experimenting without the time investment of learning plaster mold making.
